In a few sentences, tell us about what you do here at ButterflyMX.

As Principal Product Manager of Hardware at ButterflyMX, I help shape and build the devices that make getting into and managing buildings easier than ever. I work closely with our customers, engineers, and sales teams to dream up and deliver features that people love, whether that’s making our products simpler to use, easier to install, or a breeze to manage day-to-day. My goal is to create hardware that fits seamlessly into the lives of users, property managers, and installers alike.

What’s your favorite part about working at ButterflyMX?

What I love most about working at ButterflyMX is the positive, welcoming culture and the genuine camaraderie among my coworkers. We really support each other and have fun building great things together. It’s a place where you feel encouraged to make an impact, and every day, I get to see how our ideas (since I’m still developing my first product) could make life easier for so many people.

What’s the most significant thing you’ve learned while working here?

The right idea at just the right moment can truly transform everyday life, and that’s what excites me about working at ButterflyMX. I love how we’re always thinking ahead, using technology to make something as simple as entering a building feel seamless and even delightful. It’s one of those experiences where you thank the tech for making life easier, like when a robot vacuums quietly cleans my house. By focusing on the natural ways people interact, we’ve created solutions that don’t just work-they make life easier and more enjoyable for everyone involved.

What’s your proudest accomplishment so far during your time at ButterflyMX?

I only started at ButterflyMX at the beginning of April, so I’m still getting up to speed on all the products and how everything works. But what I’m really proud of so far is how open and welcoming the team has been to new ideas and best practices. Everyone’s genuinely excited to keep innovating and try new things together. It’s great to be part of a culture that values collaboration and is always looking for ways to improve and deliver customer values in new ways.

Tell us about your favorite day/event at ButterflyMX. What makes it so special/memorable?

My favorite day so far at ButterflyMX was heading out to Hoboken, NJ – joining the Sales Academy training session. It was amazing to see our video intercoms and access control devices installed out in the ‘wild’ (read: real world) on all kinds of buildings, both new and old, and in so many creative ways. I loved seeing how seamlessly the tech fit in, how much customers enjoyed using it, and just how quickly people could get into their buildings. It really brought to life the impact our products have and made me excited to be part of the team.

Fun facts about Nick

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Living in New Zealand would be awesome because the nature there is amazing: mountains, beaches, forests, all really close by. There are tons of outdoor activities to try, like hiking, kayaking, and biking, so it’s perfect if you love being active. Plus, the weather is nice, and the people are friendly, making it a great place to live and enjoy life with my family.

Do you have a secret talent (*cough* superpower) you want people to know about?

I am an open book and don’t live a life where I hide my talents/superpowers, but I love playing classical piano music (like Chopin), building things (like an electric guitar which I made from scratch), or turning around any situation with my quick sense of humor (always ready with a side comment to earn a smile).

What is your favorite thing to do after work or on the weekends?

My favorite way to spend time after work or on the weekends is doing fun activities with my family and friends. We love playing board games together. Lately, Betrayal at House on the Hill and Five Crowns have been our top picks! When we’re not gaming, you’ll usually find us swimming in the pool, heading out for a kayaking adventure, or exploring new hiking trails. It’s the perfect way to relax and have fun.
