It’s a fact of life: if you own or manage a multi-tenant property, you need a system to manage deliveries. As online ordering reaches unprecedented levels, so do missed deliveries and package theft, which means delivery management is more important than ever.

And no matter what delivery management system you have — whether it’s just a table where couriers leave deliveries or a more sophisticated solution such as a package room — one of the biggest challenges for managing deliveries is granting property access. Building owners and operators struggle to keep their properties secure while ensuring couriers can gain access to make deliveries.

If you have a ButterflyMX video intercom, there is a solution: your residents can create a delivery pass. A delivery pass is a single-use, six-digit code that carriers use to easily and securely access your building.

In this post we walk through:

What is delivery pass

Delivery pass is a single-use, six-digit code created in the ButterflyMX mobile app. Residents can provide the code to delivery drivers so they can easily access your property. Once the code is used, the video intercom takes a time- and date-stamped photo of the person who used it, which is available for review at any time.

How it works

Residents create a delivery pass with just three simple steps:

  1. Open the ButterflyMX app
  2. Click ‘New Delivery Pass’
  3. Copy and paste the automatically generated code into the e-commerce provider’s delivery instructions box at check-out

When the courier arrives, they enter the code into the ButterflyMX video intercom to unlock the door and gain access.

The benefits of delivery pass

Benefits include:

Eliminates package theft

With a one-time six-digit code for property access, you can eliminate package theft at your building because delivery carriers can now leave the packages inside your property.

Ensures secure property access

The intercom takes a time- and date-stamped photo every time the code is used to access the building. At any time, if you notice people using the delivery pass in ways they shouldn’t, you can turn off this feature for an individual resident or the entire property.

Adds convenience for residents

With this feature, residents no longer have to coordinate with couriers or wonder whether or not their delivery has arrived.

Increases NOI

Empower your property staff to spend their time on resident satisfaction instead of providing building access to delivery carriers. With the average property receiving hundreds of deliveries per month, the cost of package management can add up quickly.
